This was my Halloween costume this year - I played a gig and had a great time. Didn't get home til 3:45am so I spent Halloween day going out to brunch, napping on the couch, watching football and baseball. Overall a pretty good weekend!

When I was a boy growing up in Kansas, a friend of mine and I went fishing and as we sat there in the warmth of a summer afternoon we talked about what we wanted to do when we grew up. I told him I wanted to be a real major league baseball player, a genuine professional like Honus Wagner. My friend said that he'd like to be president of the United States. some of my favorite books:

I have read many books penned by each of these authors.
- Alan Furst is a great writer of historical fiction set just before and during WWII...dark and atmospheric.
- Robert Goddard is the king of the double and triple cross. Every time I think I have one of his stories figured out I'm always proven wrong.
- Michael Gruber writes fiction that includes some historical characters but the stories surround the world of antique book dealing, true crime and the supernatural.
- Have you ever read a book that makes you want to meet the author and pick his brain? Reading Arturo Perez-Reverte does this to me. This Spanish author spins tales of drug dealers, treasure diving, painting, the world of the Vatican and (more) book dealing.
-Iain Pears is not for the light-hearted. This is serious historical fiction that deals with scientific study, mathematics and mystery that involves philosopher John Locke and historians Richard Lower and Anthony Wood. Set in the 17th century the story unfolds from four different viewpoints until the final story is unveiled.
